This web interactive tool displays phylogenetic profiles of selected protein sequences, ie their conservation in the large dsDNA viruses. Profiles of known conserved domains are also computed.

Welcome to the large dsDNA viruses profiling page.

The display of viral proteins phylogenetic profiles is now available, showing the conservation of those proteins in large dsDNA viruses. To use the idea that genes conserved in the same viruses are maybe functionnaly linked, we also provide a way to identify the proteins that have the most similar conservation profiles to a query protein. As homology between viral genes is often hard to detect, we used domains to try to identify smaller part of genes that are better conserved. So, the profiles of the domains matching with a gene of interest are also computed and displayed below the genes profile. For the domains informations, we used the Conserved Domains Database, include COG, KOG, Pfam and Smart.

Here is an example for Mimivirus genes:
Core genes profiles

Choose a virus

Enter a gene name
(Examples: L206, R322)

Access the genes by words in their annotation
(Examples: ribonuc, kinase)

Enter a sequence and find the most similar ones in Mimivirus
Paste your sequence in fasta format.
